This is exactly what I need to brighten up my apartment during the long, grey winters! I would love to know exactly how this is made... it looks so intricate. This lampshade sells for $40 CAD plus shipping, and is available in different colours. It is folded for shipping, to reduce costs - how clever is that? It is hand made by Justina at FiberStore. Check out her other designs at here.Carla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-37817242768671041752013-01-29T15:35:00.000-08:002013-01-29T15:35:10.471-08:00A new year, a new homeGreetings from Stephenville, Newfoundland! I haven't been very active with Etsy or my jewelry making for a while, but the last few months have been productive otherwise! I am living in Stephenville, a town on the west coast of Newfoundland. I will be here until June for work, and then back to St. John's for the summer. I am trying to get back into making jewelry, so I started by sorting and organizing all of my beads.... Which was a pretty monumental task, but it's done! I am going peruse what my Etsy Climbers colleagues have been up to lately, and hopefully find some inspiration. And, some new stuff to feature here.Carla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-66270638509538410722012-09-30T13:20:00.001-07:002012-09-30T13:22:39.239-07:00The Rain Door Print by Krinshaw Studios

Fall is definitely here, and this print makes me think of Christmas. And romance. It's an 8" x 10" print on 8.5" x 11" white Matte Photo Supreme paper, and larger sizes are available upon request! You can also order note cards with the same image. I'm thinking they'll make great Christmas cards... Climbers are a talented bunch, aren't they? I started my teaching internship a few weeks ago, and each day is an adventure. And pretty draining sometimes. I will be at the St. John's Farmer's Market this weekend with my jewelry, and going to have a new blog feature for the team up soon!Carla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-88623953789268120092012-08-08T10:15:00.002-07:002012-08-13T16:23:38.262-07:00Red and Gold Brocade Chalkbag by Rockduster

I'll post another item feature shortly, but in the meantime I wanted to tell everyone about my recent trip to Red Rock Canyon in Nevada. I was there for 2 weeks with a bunch of friends from Newfoundland. It was a great trip and I learned so much about climbing. Red Rocks has something for every climber, at every level. There is sport climbing, bouldering, trad, and multi-pitch. I am mainly a sport climber, but I tried out some trad climbing on the trip and it was a great experience. It was a whole new challenge. I have never experienced a desert environment before either. It is so hot and dry, you wonder how anything can survive there, but there is amazing wildlife: birds, lizards, snakes, rabbits, even deer. I didn't see any of the more exotic animals like tortoises or wild burros, though! It was a great time and I definitely recommend Red Rocks to anyone interested in taking a trip there.Carla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-9422943009478403022012-04-18T08:03:00.003-07:002012-04-18T08:10:02.594-07:00Climbing and competitionThomasina Pidgeon recently wrote an insightful essay about climbing and competitiveness, particularly its role in the lives of women climbers. You can read the essay here.

This gave me a lot to think about. Does being better than someone else motivate my climbing? Or is it my own progress that drives me? I sometimes feel that improving at climbing is not happening fast enough for me, and I get frustrated. But then I remember how lucky I am to be able to climb at all, to see beautiful places and meet wonderful people. What motivates you in climbing?
Carla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-21677531128201698142012-04-12T14:58:00.004-07:002012-04-12T15:07:44.990-07:00

Since I started blogging for the team, I have found so many things I want to buy for myself! I am going to be blogging on behalf of the team, and very much looking forward to it. I already have lots of climbing and Etsy-related topics in mind, but please feel free to send me your suggestions as well! A little bit about myself... I live in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, near the eastern-most point in North America. Winters are long here, and you need patience to be a climber in Newfoundland, but fortunately there is a dedicated, and growing climbing community here. I have an Etsy shop, AvalonBelle, and I sell jewelry. I like glass beads and gemstones, and I am trying to get started in metalworking. Here is a link to my shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AvalonBelle?ref=si_shopCarla Safranyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06454366893046418666noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8743317329189511438.post-75721936290110248032011-11-25T16:55:00.001-08:002011-12-13T16:24:12.293-08:00Welcome!Welcome to the Etsy Climbers Team Blog.
